Pop star Justin Bieber might have won the album war against UK boy band One Direction but the war for Selena Gomez's heart is just beginning.

One Direction's Niall Horan and Gomez were reportedly spotted kissing, hugging and dancing together at Channing Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum's 35th birthday party in Los Angeles on Saturday.

An image of the young stars posted to Instagram by Gomez's close friend Raquelle Stevens features Horan with his arm around the Same Old Love singer.

The two had earlier performed at 102.7 KIIS FM's 2015 Jingle Ball at Staples Centre and were seen leaving the venue together, US Weekly reports.

The romance might come as a shock to Bieber who recently serenaded Gomez with The Temptations classic My Girl at a Beverly Hills hotel at the weekend, reigniting rumours the two were finally back together after their split in 2014.

The Sorry singer further sent fans into a frenzy by posting a photo of himself and Gomez dating from 2012 with the caption "crazy throwback".

It's not the first time Horan and Gomez have been linked with the two seen leaving the recent American Music Awards together.
