Joel Madden and Nicole Richie's marriage looks to be on thin ice - and getting thinner.

Life and Style reports that Richie, 33, is tired of the bickering and wants to get a divorce sorted quick smart.

"She just wants to get it over with - she's tired of all the fighting," an inside source told the magazine.

This is despite Madden, 36, still wanting to work things out and try couple's therapy again.

"Joel doesn't want a divorce - he's trying everything he can to get Nicole to change her mind," the source said.

And if that doesn't work, the source said the Madden Brothers singer is not afraid to play dirty to get Richie to stay.

"He has a lot of dirt on Nicole and he's not afraid to use it, especially if it's going to stop her from divorcing him," the insider said.

"If she divorces him, he will put her through the wringer."

The divorce rumours however are at odds with a picture Madden posted to photo sharing site Instagram less than two weeks ago.

On Mother's Day, the singer shared a cute, smiling snap of him and Richie with one of their children, captioned: "Best wife, mother and friend a father and his kids could ask for."

The couple have been married for almost five years and have two children.
