The last three Rammstein albums have been flat compared with 1997's Sehnsucht, with its towering Du Hast.
Fans would probably disagree. But by way of proof, the weakest part of this collection is the tongue-in-cheek yet lame Amerika off 2004's Reise Reise. That song aside, this set recorded live in Nimes, France (both the visual and audio versions are included here, as well as other live DVD footage), is as hot as the flamethrowers strapped to singer Till Lindeman's bulging biceps.
These Germans are at their bludgeoning and theatrical best in concert, which means songs like Sonne from 2001's Mutter, and Mein Teil and Los from Reise, are given new strength.
There's the theatrics, pyrotechnics, makeup, a confetti storm and crowd surfing on a rubber dinghy - like they did at the Big Day Out in 2001. Sadly, there's no naughty bondage.
It's fun metal. When Lindeman is striding around the stage, face smeared in blood and singing into a microphone that doubles as a knife, he's not taking things too seriously - and you shouldn't either.
This is essential for fans or for those wanting to see and hear these German crazies at their fiery and staunch - with a touch of camp - best.
Verdict: Live album and DVD shows what kinky German metallers are made of
