It was not the wisest choice of targets for a burglar.
A raider who broke into a hotel room in Las Vegas probably didn't realise how lucky he was to have fled when the sleeping occupant began to stir.
The guest was Mike Tyson, the former world heavyweight boxing champion,infamous for biting off a piece of an opponent's ear in the ring.
Tyson, 45, was staying at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, where suites cost up to £1000 a night, with his family on New Year's Eve after attending a Stevie Wonder concert.
The boxer, disqualified in a fight in 1997 when he bit a chunk out of Evander Holyfield's ear, was reportedly "sleeping like a baby" when he awoke to rustling and saw torchlight.
But before Tyson had time to react, the intruder had fled.
Security, has now been stepped up at the hotel, where a spokesman said: "We have received a report of an incident that is currently under investigation."
