MasterChef-cheat kicked out

TVNZ has reassured MasterChef fans that the cheating scandal that rocked the Australian version of the hit show could not happen here.

Mat Beyer was expelled after smuggling a smartphone on to the set. TVNZ publicist Meredith McGrath said all contestants had their phones taken from them during challenges.

Beyer was kicked off about a fortnight ago. The axing has thrown the show into disarray, with producers forced to recall an eliminated contestant.
