KEY POINTS:
More than 500 of the country's leading designers convened at the Aotea Centre on Friday night for the 19th annual Best Design Awards.
Organised by the Designers Institute of New Zealand, the black tie function celebrated the best in New Zealand design across three disciplines - product, spatial and graphics.
This year's event attracted a record number of entries, the standard of which was "phenomenal" according to CEO of the Designers Institute, Cathy Veninga.
An exhibition showcasing the winners and finalists of the Best Awards will be on display at Auckland Museum until October 20.
Highlight
Seeing some of New Zealand's most creative minds reflect their personality through dress. Not an LBD in sight.
Lowlight
Watching in horror as a waitress dropped an entire tray of champagne flutes. Such a waste.
