Don't mess with Coco. She's "the best rapper in the world" and she just happens to be "a girl from New Zealand". Well, that's what she proclaims on Girl From Where?. But with the kind of vocal trickery she comes up with(alongside partner Erik Ultimate) on Gentlemen Prefer Bombz, the duo's fourth album, you believe her.
Guys beware when she deadpans, "You say you're rich like Puffy and make love like Prince, you can tell by my face that I ain't convinced". But frollicking fun is always just round the corner.
There's the kinky bellydancing beats and whistles of Living On the Sun and on to the kooky mind-altering keyboard of staunch girl anthem Rebelette.
This is a dance album but don't expect throbbing techno because the beats are lo-fi and sparse, yet cleverly formed, and the bass is a fuzzy and unrelenting joy.
If you're a fan of over-sexed sentiment, or into dirty-girl Peaches, or simply after some mischievous dancefloor fun, then Coco and Erik have something they'd like to share with you. Climb into their "satin sheets", if you dare.
Verdict: Crazy, hilarious and dirty fourth album from local sound-clash duo
