Lindsay Lohan can unpack her prison toothbrush and breathe a sigh of relief - for now.

Prosecutors in Los Angeles say no charges will be filed against her today in connection with the alleged theft of a necklace from a high-end California jewellery store.

According to the
Los Angeles Times, the embattled Mean Girls star won't be facing grand theft charges for allegedly nabbing the $2,500 necklace from the Kamofie & Company store in January.

Lohan is accused of having walked away with a "one of a kind" necklace from the Venice store in January. The starlet, however, maintains that the item was on loan to her and a stylist simply forgot to return it on time.

"Lindsay doesn't understand how the store can file a police report when they let her borrow the necklace," a source tells People.

"She's used to getting gifted items that are worth way more than that. And why would she steal a necklace? She has tons of jewellery and doesn't need anymore."

Several online reports claimed Lohan would be charged today, but both Lohan's attorney and the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office have denied that charges are pending.

"I don't know where TMZ is getting their information," District Attorney's Office spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons told the Beverly Hills Courier. "We have our investigation under review and a filing decision has not been made."

Lohan's lawyer, Shawn Chapman Holley, also released a statement over the weekend saying she and her client would contest any charges in court.

"We vehemently deny these allegations and, if charges are filed, we will fight them in court, not in the press," said Holley.

And according to RadarOnline, the District Attorney's office spokesperson Jane Robinson says "nothing will be filed today."

But she's not out of the woods yet.

The website claims that prosecutors, who have been presented with a case by the Los Angeles Police Department, will move forward with charges later this week.

Said a source: "Charges will be filed against Lindsay this week. There are just some minor housekeeping issues to get ironed out on the case before it's filed."

TMZ reports that Lohan's lawyer has now met with prosecutors and presented her case for why the actress should not be charged over the alleged theft of the bling.

Will LiLo soon be rocking a pair of designer handcuffs and doing bird? And will she be primping herself up for another 'dazed bunny in the headlights' mug shot to add to her burgeoning collection?

Not if her family has anything to do with it.

"No one [in the family] really thinks she's going to get charged," a family insider tells E! News. "They believe she didn't steal the necklace. They think it's a non-case."

I think they mean no-brainer.

Stay tuned...

Closed for business

Hollywood bad boy Charlie Sheen's porn party is over.

The Two and A Half Men star, who is currently receiving out-patient rehab treatment at his LA home, has reportedly texted his porn star pals to tell them he is "closed for business".

One message reportedly read: "Please lose the number, we are closed". Another said: "Right now we are on lockdown."

So does this mean Sheen - whose now legendary 36-hours bender landed him in hospital recently - is taking his rehabilitation seriously? Apparently so. Word is he's keen to get back to work by the end of this month.

Production on his TV show has been on hiatus since he was hospitalised on January 28.

Grammer gets his quickie

Kelsey Grammer and soon-to-be ex-wife Camille Grammer have reportedly struck a deal, which will allow the former Frasier star to trot down the aisle and marry current fiancé Kayte Walsh.

According to E! News
, lawyers for the pair have bashed out a deal over their respective finances - which they've been scrapping over for months.

A judge said in a hearing today that she'll issue the divorce decree as soon as the pair sign the settlement papers. They are expected to submit the signed settlement by Thursday.

Grammer, 55, had been trying to speed up the divorce proceedings so he could marry Walsh, 29, by the end of this month.

Sealed with a kiss

Still think divorcee Eva Longoria and Penelope Cruz's brother Eduardo Cruz are just friends? Think again. Try friends with benefits.

The hot couple have been snapped smooching on a yacht in Miami this week.

She's 35, he's 25. Does this officially make Longoria a cougar?
