Justin Bieber won't be drawn into speculation about his relationship status.

Just hours after multiple sources claimed that the 18-year-old singer and his girlfriend of nearly two years, Selena Gomez, had called it quits, Bieber dialled into a US radio show and was asked to comment on the break-up news.

"All right. I don't know what to say," he said in an interview with Open House Party on Saturday, neither confirming nor denying the split.

"I don't know really...if you even know what's going on in my life. To even assess that doesn't make any sense, because I've not made any comments."

The awkward confab continued as host John Garabedian said, "Well, let's move on to the next subject," to which Bieber replied, "That would make sense."

The Beauty and a Beat singer, who performed in Boston on Saturday night, later took to Twitter to thank his fans for their support.

"Thank you Boston. Focused on the positive. #30MillionBeliebers with me. I'm never leaving you because you are always there for me," he wrote.

He later added: "Regardless of what happens I see all of the tweets and all the love you guys are sending me. Thank u. Love u too."

News of the break-up first surfaced on Friday.

Bieber wants Gomez back

11 Nov 09:48 PM

A source told E! News: "They broke up about a week ago.

"Because of their crazy schedules, it was getting harder and harder to maintain a relationship."

Additionally, a source dished to People that twenty-year-old actress-turned-singer Gomez was the one who pulled the proverbial plug on the relationship.

"She broke up with him about a week ago," a source told the mag. "With them being apart so much it got complicated. She had some trust issues. It's not easy, but the relationship needed to end."

Rumours that the couple had split began circulating over the past few weeks, and reached boiling point last week when the hitmaker was spotted at a Broadway performance of The Lion King with a group that included 19-year-old Hungarian runway model Barbara Palvin, according to E!

On Wednesday, Palvin mentioned Bieber on Twitter, writing, "okay sooo because u guys were askin for it! with ?@justinbieber! you were great tonight!? http://lockerz.com/s/259735356" and posted a snap of herself backstage at the Victoria's Secret Fashion show where Bieber performed.

And on Thursday, Gomez set tongues wagging when she tweeted a pic of Bieber with Palvin in the background.

Her only commentary on the picture was a cryptic "..."

Palvin has denied any romantic involvement with Bieber.

She tweeted yesterday: "Last time im saying it. please calm down.there is nothing going on w him.i met him and did a pic w him. wouldnt u do the same?:) #friendship."

'IT'S NOT JUST OVER'

According to TMZ, it's supposedly "not over" for Bieber and Gomez.

Sources tell the scandal sheet that Bieber wants to get back together with the Wizards of Waverly Place actress.

"The way Justin sees it...they've broken up a bunch of times before and this is just another blip," notes the website, adding, "he's not freaked out ... he thinks there's a good chance they'll make up."

A source also dismissed speculation that Palvin is more than just Bieber's friend.

"It's not just over for Justin and Selena, whatever happens they have a lot to talk about," another source dished to the MailOnline.

"Their schedules have been packed but Selena has made tentative plans to see Justin in New York before his Brooklyn concert, she hasn't decided if she'll attend yet, but she's keen to talk... and so is he.

"They're both being a bit cagey and stubborn, but they're desperate to see one another.

"This isn't new for them, they often have a tumultuous relationship. We all expect them to work it out."

But it's a very different story over at Gossip Cop.

"They are done. I can't imagine them getting back together," a Gomez pal is quoted as saying.

Bieber and Gomez went public with their relationship in February 2011.

During a recent interview with Oprah, Bieber opened up about their romance.

"Sometimes... sometimes we gotta to take the back exits and do different things, but I never make her separate from me cause I don't want her to feel like I'm ashamed of her," he said in the interview, due to air in the US on November 25.

"I feel like a lot of guys do that - especially in the business," he added. "They don't want to be seen with their girl so they'll make them ride in separate cars and do all that 'getaway' stuff. When we get away, we're getting away together."
