New Zealand's highest grossing film of all time has just earned another
accolade - a place in film review website Rotten Tomatoes top 100 movies of all time.
Hunt for the Wilderpeople is listed at no.99 on the list, which lists The Wizard of Oz at no.1.
The accolade prompted a cheeky response from the film's writer-director Taika Waititi.
"Hunt for the @Wilderpeople is in the top 100 Films of All Time on @RottenTomatoes. That's pretty Lolz," he tweeted yesterday.
The website ranks films based on a weighted average. In its "critics consensus" Rotten Tomatoes was smitten for the movie.
"The charmingly offbeat Hunt for the Wilderpeople unites a solid cast, a talented filmmaker, and a poignant, funny, deeply affecting message."
Hunt for the Wilderpeople, adapted from a Barry Crump book and starring Sam Neill and Julian Dennison, tells the story of a national manhunt for a rebellious boy and his foster uncle after they go missing in the bush.
