Poor Liza Minnelli. The legend of stage and screen had, what must have been, the worst time at the Academy Awards yesterday.
There to celebrate The Wizard of Oz, which starred her mother Judy Garland, Minnelli suffered blow after blow at the hands of the script writers, her height and her inability to dress herself properly.
Here's how her day unfolded:
1. That blue streak. You can't knock the 67-year-old for trying something new, after all, it wasn't that long ago that Helen Mirren was rocking pink hair. But Minnelli's blue streaked pixie cut was slammed by viewers. From "classless" to "not age appropriate", Twitter users were seeing red over the blue.

2. Host Ellen DeGeneres opened the show with a quip about the "best Liza Minnelli impersonator" she'd ever seen. The joke was quickly followed up with, "Good job, Sir", referencing Minnelli, who was left looking more than unimpressed. The rest of the room cringed as well, and some people are calling DeGeneres' comments transphobic and disrespectful.
3. Another snub by DeGeneres. This time Minnelli missed out on the host's Twitter-breaking selfie. While the likes of Jared Leto and Kevin Spacey managed to just squeeze into the frame, poor little Minnelli was just too short. Photos later turned up online showing the 163cm, blue-clad star jumping to be seen at the back of the pack.

4. She did manage to get a photo with DeGeneres eventually though. And isn't this one you'd stick above the fireplace?
5. Oh, and did we mention Minnelli forgot to wear underwear to the awards? Her electric blue pant-suit was apparently one she had worn before, but it left nothing to the imagination and managed to earn her the Twitter nickname of "Nip". Unsurprisingly perhaps, it got her on the worst dressed list.
