LAUGH:
YouTube star Matt Bellassai has launched his podcast Unhappy Hour, in which he blows life's minor inconveniences totally out of proportion with so much hatred and disdain that it becomes hilarious. Christmas, dogs, babies, teenagers, clowns, obnoxious people on Facebook - everything goes. He talks about the news, complainsabout life and even has guest complainers come along. Plus there's always a chaser of something good so it's not all negative. If you've always wanted to let your inner hater out, this is the - shockingly relatable - podcast for you.
BINGE:
I expected YouTube Red's new Step Up: High Water to be kind of a guilty pleasure, but it's actually just a pleasure. It takes the usual format of dance movies (some type of underdog trying to make it big through dance and only succeeding after they've embraced their inner demons) and throws in some sprinkles of 2018 - respectful and hard-working teens, LGBT storylines, conversations around race, privilege, police brutality and more. You have to be a fan of dance flicks to be into it I think, because it's not really breaking the mould, but it's at least a refreshing new take on a fun genre and stupidly easy to binge.
Bruno Mars is about to hit New Zealand with four massive shows at Spark Arena and I have a feeling it will be one of the biggest gigs of the year. It's a big call considering Ed Sheeran, Celine Dion, Pink and more are coming to play this year, but what can I say? I have high hopes. Mars has a catalogue full of bangers and every time I see him perform at events it's an all singing, all dancing, swagger-filled good time and it does not disappoint. He's playing February 27 and 28, and March 2 and 3.
WATCH:
I'm not usually one for reality shows but this one is fascinating. 60 Days In puts regular people in jail undercover with zero help. The guards don't know they're plants, the prisoners don't know, there are no security measures, it's just your average Joe with a flimsy cover story in a giant pod-full of genuine prisoners for 60 Days - if they make it that long. The most interesting part is seeing just how quick they become like the inmates. You can check it out on Bravo and on demand on ThreeNow.
