Independence Day was surely one of the best big dumb blockbusters of the 90s - but 20 years later, its much-hyped sequel arrived with a dull thud earlier this year.
Now that the dust has settled, the good folk at Screen Junkies have cut together another one of their popular'Honest Trailers' (used to devastating effect last month for the Ghostbusters remake) to count the many and varied ways Independence Day Resurgence sucked.
The film brought back "all your favourite characters, except ... your favourite character," the trailer says, referring to Will Smith, the original film's leading man.
Instead, there's his on-screen son, who was crippled in an accident that left him "entirely devoid of charisma."

Resurgence is "a film so bad, Will Smith decided to do Suicide Squad instead," the narrator quips, pointing out that the sequel is "twice the size and half the fun" with "more of the global destruction we're completely numb to at this point."
Poor old homegrown dreamboat Liam Hemsworth doesn't escape the skewering, either - he's nicknamed 'Pretty Dry for a White Guy'.
