Has Step Dave star Jono Kenyon just hit the big time?

Jono Kenyon will spend six weeks in Los Angeles shooting a new pilot with Shonda Rhimes.

Step Dave star Jono Kenyon says his "dreams are coming true" after scoring the lead role in a new show from the creator of Grey's Anatomy.

The actor from the TV2 drama took to Instagram to announce his role in Toast, a new comedy produced by Shonda Rhimes being shot in Los Angeles in six weeks.

He wrote: "So excited to announce my next project! Lead role in an ABC comedy pilot produced by Shonda Rhimes (greys Antony, scandal etc) 6 weeks in LA and dreams coming true... stay tuned!"

Deadline reported Kenyon would play Max Leeds, one half of an engaged couple celebrating at their wedding rehearsal dinner.

"Their eclectic family and friends give toasts recalling anecdotes about the couple - but flashbacks reveal that the toasts don't always get it right, as we watch the true story of their complicated, funny and relatable road to marriage," Deadline said.

Rhimes is a very big deal, having created top-rating shows Grey's Anatomy, spin-off Private Practice and Scandal.

Kenyon has starred in two seasons of TV2's Step Dave, in which he plays a young player who falls in love with an older mother, played by Sia Trokenheim.

Toast will also star Tessa Ferrer from Grey's Anatomy as Max's closest friend, Deadline reported.
