The singer-songwriter moved to Berlin in 2013, releasing his first hit She Moves - a collaboration with German DJ Alle Farben- the following year. It reached gold status in Germany selling over 170,000 copies and charted all around Europe.
Now, Candy's been named to play Glastonbury later this month, alongside the likes of Adele, Coldplay, PJ Harvey, Sigur Ros and more, and will also play Lollapalooza Berlin with Radiohead, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Kings of Leon come September.
But before all of that, he was a Kiwi kid from Auckland's Rothesay Bay who "skipped classes in school to play guitar".
A Rangitoto College student, Candy claimed 7th place in the 2008 Play it Strange national secondary school songwriting competition for a song called Lasts Forever, and played in a band called The Lost Boys.
Candy's big break came while running a music pub called The Portland Public House, in which he would play cover songs occasionally.
