A love letter to the supernatural classics of the 80's, Stranger Things is the story of a young boy who vanishes into thin air. As friends, family and local police search for answers, they are drawn into an extraordinary mystery involving top-secret government experiments, terrifying supernatural forces and one very strange little girl.
The new cast members have been revealed to be: Sean Astin, Paul Reiser and Linnea Berthelsen.
Astin(The Goonies, Lord of the Rings trilogy) will play Bob Newby, "a kind-hearted former nerd who went to high school with Joyce (Winona Ryder) and Hopper (David Harbour) and now manages the local Hawkins RadioShack."
Reiser (Aliens, Whiplash) has been cast as Dr Owens, "a high-ranking member within the Department of Energy on a 'clean-up' assignment, tasked with containing the events of last year."
Actress Berthelsen has been cast as Roman. According to Netflix, she's "an emotionally damaged, magnetic young woman who suffered a great loss as a child. Although she does not live in Hawkins, she is mysteriously connected to the supernatural events at the lab..."
The tone Stranger Things has been compared to several hit movies from the 70s and 80s, including The Goonies, Alien,E.T. and Stand By Me.
Last week a photo was posted to Facebook and Twitter which shows Millie Bobby Brown - who played Eleven in the first season - at the centre of a cast table read, confirming her return to the celebrated show.
