International artist LaTasha Lee and Kiwi favourites Katchafire and L.A.B are among the bands headed back to Mount Maunganui as part of a tour aimed to bring more summer-feel music events this winter.
The Good Vibes Winter Tour will feature some of Aotearoa's most-loved acts, including Katchafire, L.A.B, Tomorrow People and 1814 alongside international acts Josh Wawa, LaTasha Lee, and local rising star, Lion Rezz.
The seven-stop tour will head to Mount Maunganui, Napier, Gisborne, Porirua, Hamilton, Tokoroa, Auckland between July 26 and August 10. The Mount Maunganui show will be held on July 27 at the Trustpower Baypark Arena.
Josh Wawa and LaTasha Lee won't perform at the Napier concert, which is where Kiwi teen sensation General Fiyah and reggae act Paua will perform as special guests.
Good Vibes debuted this year as the warm-up party to the January's Tauranga reggae festival, One Love.
Organiser Pato Alvarez, from Pato Entertainment, is excited about the line-up and says cooler weather is no reason to stop the music or touring.
"I think most promoters always focus in summer festivals. I decided to start breaking that rule and coming up with more events like we do in summer but in winter," Alvarez says.
"Why should we stop the music or touring in winter when it gets cold? Let's warm up winter with good vibes."
Alvarez says Katchafire, 1814, Tomorrow People and Bay of Plenty band L.A.B are among New Zealand's most popular reggae bands and he refers to Lion Rezz as one of the biggest up-and-coming reggae acts right now. He says LaTasha was a crowd favourite at her first One Love festival this year and fans have been asking for her to come back.
A total of 3500 tickets will be sold for the Mount Maunganui show and Alvarez says he has no doubt the Good Vibes event will sell out. He says L.A.B's three shows at Mount Maunganui's Totara St venue were sold out in a matter of days.
"Imagine when you have L.A.B plus all these amazing artists in one bill."
Earlybird tickets go on sale on Wednesday, April 24 at 7pm from goodvibesfestival.co.nz.
