Gin Wigmore dropped a baby bombshell when she sat down with Anika Moa this week - telling the Herald host she is pregnant.
But the chart topper, who's famous for her raucous laugh, later revealed it was just a joke, saying: "God, that's going to be interesting, eh? In nine months, when nothing comes out!"
The singer, who's just released her new single New Rush, also spoke about taking on social media trolls.
Earlier this year, Wigmore made headlines when she took aim at a troll who left an abusive post on her Facebook page.
"I made one little mistake right at the end and it had already posted. I thought 'if I edit that, it's going to be bad. And if I delete it, it's also going to be bad because people have already seen it'. So I was like, I've just got to roll with it."
The singer also rejected the idea that New Zealand music industry is shrinking, saying it's becoming more concentrated, which is a positive thing.
"There's so much more of a focus on live shows now and you can't cut it live if you're not good. I think good music's rising to the top."
What is Face-to-Face with Anika Moa?
As New Zealand's most beautiful, famous and totally modest singer-songwriter, Anika Moa's been asked a lot of silly questions over the years. Convinced she could do a better job herself, she's turned the tables and put herself in the role of interviewer for our new video series, Face to Face with Anika Moa.
Interviewing some of New Zealand's leading musical talent, Moa cuts to the chase, asking the tough questions. Like just how jealous is everyone of Lorde?
She also has a new album to promote (Queen at the Table - out now!) so is taking advantage of it by talking mainly about herself and her own outstanding achievements. She's won four Tui Awards, you know?
Each week, Moa will probe her subjects about their time in the industry, before delivering her relentless quick fire questions.
