A music video inspired by a hit anti drink-drive ad has gone viral.
Kiwi rap group The Cuzzies recorded the song Ghost Chips after seeing the now famous Legend ad, which features a young man's internal monologue about whether or not to stop his friend from driving drunk.
Since The Cuzzies - former C4 presenter Jermaine Leef and producer DLove - posted their video on YouTube on Friday, it's had more than 78,000 views.
It features Leef shooting a ghost with his "ghost gun," co-ordinated dance-offs against ghost dancers and other events inspired by the ad.
The original television ad, notorious for the line "you know I can't grab your ghost chips," has had more than a million views and had tens of thousands of likes on various Facebook pages.
NZTA national media manager Andy Knackstedt said the ad had become a "phenomenon".
"It's been picked up and it's got a life of its own and it's fantastic, because really you're looking at the young 15- to 24-year-olds who are in that space and that's who we're trying to reach with this message."
