Is it possible for a game to be annoyingly cute? Or is it cutely annoying? Either way, Yoshi's Woolly World finds that fence and plants its butt on it without a care in the world.
The latest release for the Wii U almost stares you in the face and daresyou not to like it.
How can you not like a game that asks you to collect yarns of wool for points? How dare you throw shade on a game in which you have to jump on knitted clouds, sunflowers and rainbows? How can you get angry when you have to use your giant tongue to swallow enemies? And how can you not fall in love with a game that comes packaged with its very own knitted Yoshi figurine? Basically, you can't.
Wii Y game Yoshi's Woolly World.
Sitting somewhere between Super Mario Bros and Little Big Planet, Yoshi's Woolly World is a side-scrolling platformer aimed at a younger audience. You're a knitted Yoshi creature and you have to save all your other Yoshi buddies from an evil wizard called Kamek, who's kidnapped them all and turned them into bundles of wool. For the best Yoshi experience, you'll want to team up with a friend.
They'll be able to help you navigate your way through six levels that get increasingly complex, with moveable platforms, drawbridges and tripwires requiring precise manoeuvres. You'll get the hang of it in no time, and you'll soon be spitting yarn balls around the screen at will.
And you'll be hanging out for your chirpy little Yoshi to do his cute dance spins at the end of each level. Seriously, when a game is this cute, how can you not fall in love with it?
