Mostly, that involves explosive arcade fun mixing fast-paced action, sparkling cartoon graphics, gross-out humour and plenty of parkour with Tony Hawke's Skateboarding-style stunts.
That means there's a steep learning curve for beginners - give yourself a couple of hours to master the art of attacking the OD'd while ziplining and grinding your way around the city.
After that, Sunset City really comes into its own with increasingly outlandish missions, characters you can become attached to and all the crazy weaponry you'd expect from the developers behind Ratchet & Clank - including flaming guitars, customisable pitchforks and something called the "TNTeddy".
Yes, upgrade systems are ridiculously complex and the extensive customisations can grow wearisome (pink lingerie, anyone?).
Mostly, though, Sunset Overdrive is the perfect antidote for anyone who's played super-serious gorefests like The Evil Within too much.
