Game review: Resident Evil Revelations 2

Why hello there, my little Vita friend. It's been a long time between drinks.

How are you? It's been quite a while since we've had anything to make us dust off the underrated handheld Playstation console, but it's unlikely Resident Evil Revelations 2 will bring anyone back.

For starters, RER2's already been out in a far superior format on Playstation 4 and Xbox One, with its four episodes being released periodically over February and March.

That's not all: you'll need to clear out your Vita's storage capacity to fit the horror sequel on there, and with lengthy loading times and downgraded graphics, you'll probably wonder if it was worth it.

Sure, Revelations 2 - the follow-up to the 2012 franchise spin-off - has a superior story, starting with an escape from an infected island that includes genuine scares and some truly great creatures.

But RER2 definitely loses something on the smaller screen.

One early mission requires you to shoot a key down from a ceiling - a simple task on a 55-inch TV screen, but even seeing the damned thing on the Vita can be difficult. If you only own the Vita, this will provide six hours of terrifying fun.

For everyone else, move along - these aren't the zombies you're looking for.
