Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams dreams of stepping behind the camera to become a director.

The 18 year old shot to fame as a child star in the popular fantasy TV show, but Maisie is already looking beyond the end of the series to plot her post-Game of Thrones career.

Maisie admits she is keen to work behind the camera, and hopes to eventually become a producer and director.

"I would love to produce or direct. I think you have to pick a project you really want to be a part of, then it could be really fun," she tells the London Evening Standard newspaper.

The news comes after Maisie was feted for her acting at the 36th annual London Film Critics' Circle Awards in the UK.

She won Young British/Irish Performer of the Year for her role in drama film The Falling at a ceremony in London on Sunday night.

The Brit recently admitted she enjoys acting but is not keen on the fame her career brings, telling Entertainment Weekly, "I want to (act) the rest of my life, but I don't want paparazzi everywhere.

"I don't want to take a private jet everywhere. People don't just do that because they've got the money, but because they're sitting in airport lounges and literally doing photo after photo.

"I don't want to be an a-hole to anyone. If I watched somebody on television every week and I met them and they were an a-hole to me, it would break my heart. But it is an overwhelming life.

"Since the beginning, people said, 'Your life is gonna change', but I never believed it until this year."
