Florence Welch breaks foot at Coachella

Singer Florence Welch is recovering after breaking her foot onstage at the Coachella music festival in California.

The frontwoman for Florence + The Machine has posted a picture of an X-ray of her shattered foot on social media, telling fans she injured herself leaping offstage during the group's performance.

"I'm so sorry to say, that after what was one of my favourite shows ever at Coachella, I have discovered I have broken my foot from leaping off the stage.

"Unfortunately while this heals, my performances will have to be somewhat stripped back. I'm so sorry, I'm pretty devastated, but I still want to do the shows. I understand this is not what you were expecting, but I hope its just as enjoyable. I'm going to try and make it super special for you. By the time Glastonbury rolls around I should be back on my feet."

The news means Welch will not be as animated when she and her bandmates play the second weekend of their Coachella stint on Sunday.

It was announced that Florence + The Machine will be among the headliners at this year's Splendour In The Grass festival in Byron Bay, Australia.
