First elimination in Dancing With The Stars

Dancing with the Stars 2008 claimed its first victim last night in Geeling Ng.

Her elimination came despite judge Paul Mecurio complimenting her and partner Brian Jones on their improvements from last week's show which saw them take the wooden spoon on just 17 points.

With their rhumba earning 23 points from the judges this week, they were far from the bottom as the lines opened to viewer's votes.

In the end they lost out to Peter Urlich and Hayley Holt who found themselves in the bottom two after squeezing just 14 points from the judges.

It was a mighty fall from grace for Urlich and Holt who were amongst the judge's favourites last week with 34 points.

Urlich told host Jason Gunn a doctor had instructed him not to dance as his knee was playing up. But in the end judge Craig Revel-Horwood said it was another body part which let him down during the rhumba.

"Sadly your hips seem to have a mind of their own and they work against your body," he said before giving the couple a score of three.

Temepara George and partner Stefano Olivieri were tonight's golden couple, quickstepping their way to 31 points.
