It's a shame, but locally made horror The Ferryman is not going to be seen on the big screen. Instead, the film, directed by Sione's Wedding director Chris Graham, will be released straight to DVD.
Producers Magna Pacific told Onfilm magazine The Ferryman was a great film thatdelivered exactly what they wanted but horror films traditionally don't do well at the box office.
That's possibly a good call considering other local movies with horror overtones, like The Tattooist and Perfect Creature, didn't reach box office expectations last year.
As Chris de Burgh sang, don't pay the ferryman until he gets you to the other side.
