Fashion or fail - has Lorde broken her arm?

Lorde is sporting a new look on the red carpet in New York today, showcasing what appears to be a broken arm.

The Kiwi pop star attended the Manus x Machina: Fashion In An Age Of Technology Costume Institute Gala with a cast on her left forearm.

Lorde hasn't discussed what may have caused the injury on social media, but fans soon started noticing something was up with her fashion accessory.

Lorde has been in America recently to attend the Coachella music festival in Palm Springs, and is reportedly writing songs for her latest album with Lena Dunham's partner, Jack Antonoff.

Antonoff recently won a Grammy for his work on Taylor Swift's 1989 record, which won Album of the Year at the awards show.

Antonoff has also worked closely with artists such as Fun, Carly Rae Jepsen, Sara Bareilles and Australian pop newcomer Troye Sivan.
