Ex-Neighbours star in custody dispute grabs back her child in Malaysian restaurant

Former Neighbours star Eliza Szonert grabbed her child back from her ex-partner during a dramatic scene in a Malaysian restaurant.

Musician Ashley Crick and Eliza Szonert have been embroiled in a custody battle of their son while in Kuala Lumpur. Details on the incident are sketchy, but according to the Sydney Morning Herald, Szonert and Crick had a disagreement, which ended with Szonert being ejected from her accommodation without her son or passport.

She enlisted the help of a private agency that helps parents involved in custody battles reunite with their children.

Szonert is still without her passport and is seeking help from the Australian Consulate and High Commission to get out of Malaysia.

Her mother alleges that Crick is holding her passport so Szonert and their son cannot leave the country.

The High Commissioner had allegedly refused to reissue a passport because a passport already exists and the incident is a "civil custody matter".

Szonert has allegedly been told by authorities that she must negotiate a resolution with Mr Crick.

The child recovery agency spokesperson said the son's visa for Malaysia is also due to expire soon.

The footage shows Szonert approach her son as two men engage Crick. She swoops in and picks him up while Crick is unable to act. A large man walks with her as she leaves the building.
