There's another year to wait before winter finally arrives in Westeros but work on the final season of Game of Thrones is well underway. And proving a gruelling challenge for the cast and crew.
Complex reports that filming has just wrapped on an epic 55 days straight battle scene thattook place amongst, 'the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud' and 'the sheep s**t'.
Conditions of the shoot were so challenging that assistant director Jonathan Quinlan sent the entire cast and crew a card celebrating their survival.
This card was originally posted on social media but quickly deleted. However it was screen grabbed and can be seen below.
"This is for the Night Dragons. For enduring 55 straight nights. For enduring the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud, the sheep shit of Toome and the winds of Magheramorne. When tens of millions of people around the world watch this episode a year from now, they won't know how hard you worked. They won't care how tired you were or how tough it was to do your job in sub-freezing temperatures. They'll just understand that they're watching something that's never been done before. And that's because of you."
Game of Thrones is renowned for killing audience favourites, so while we know the cast and crew survived, we don't know which characters were as lucky.
The final season of Game of Thrones is due to screen next year.
