These police officers were seen vibing along to Sheeran's hit Celestial at last Friday's Loop tour show in Auckland.
A fan filming an Ed Sheeran concert didn’t expect to capture a viral moment – two dancing police officers.
Sagar Makkar and his wife attended Sheeran’s Loop tour show at Go Media Stadium in Auckland last Friday.
“Ed Sheeran’s songs have always been special for us,” the 31-year-old digital designmanager said.
Partway through Sheeran’s performance of his hit Celestial, which featured backing from Irish folk sensation Beoga, Makkar said he spotted two police officers vibing along with the 40,000-strong audience.
“I noticed the police officers enjoying the music and dancing with the crowd,” he said.
They can be seen bouncing to the infectious beat, arms raised to the sky and heads bopping to the rhythm.
The clip has been viewed more than 900,000 times on TikTok, with commenters sharing their approval.
“Ed Sheeran is a vibe, I can’t blame them,” wrote one.
“This is why I love being a Kiwi,” wrote another, adding “in a world full of craziness ... it is nice to see the light-hearted side of life”.
Sheeran’s verified account even left a comment, reading “love these divas !!!”
Ed Sheeran fan Sagar Makkar and his wife have passed their love for the singer to their 18-month-old daughter.
Makkar said he and his wife were long-time Sheeran fans and have passed that love on to their 18-month-old daughter, who loves to dance to her favourite song Sapphire.
He said they were impressed with Friday’s show, which they enjoyed from their third row seats, adding “the vibe and the crowd was amazing”.
A guitarist himself, Makkar said he has serenaded his wife with Sheeran’s hit Perfect on “multiple special occasions”.
Watching Sheeran perform it live was the highlight of the show for the couple, he said.
Makkar also praised Sheeran’s musicianship, calling the star a “one-man army”.
