For almost a decade, the small Irish community of Rossport has been fighting to prevent oil giant Shell laying a pipeline through their fishing grounds and over their fields. This documentary follows the many ups and downs of the David and Goliath legal battle. It is especially fascinating as it reveals the extent of the intimidation meted out to protesting villagers merely trying to preserve their way of life.

As the siblings revist their mother's Middle East homeland to fulfil her last wish they slowly piece together the details of her shocking past and the astonishing ramifications it had for her and her offspring. Adapted from the stage play Scorched, French-Canadian filmmaker Denis Villeneuve's treatment of epic family tragedy is powerful stuff.
