Sione's 2: Unfinished Business slumped in its second weekend at the New Zealand box office and lost its top slot to the The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.
The previous week, the film set a new record for a New Zealand film for the four-day weekend, grossing more than $775,000.
Taking in $316,000 on its second weekend, Sione's 2 has easily passed the $1 million mark.
But the 56 per cent drop in ticket sales after one week indicates it is going to struggle for the film to get near the $4 million the original Sione's Wedding made in 2005, though the sequel is likely to end up somewhere below the original film's fifth place in the list of top 10 grossing NZ films.
In other local box office figures, the local distributors of The Adventures of Tintin are citing the film's $5 million NZ box office as bucking the trend of decreasing interest in 3D films with 70 per cent of audience opting to see the animated film in the format.
Tintin has been the biggest film of the summer holiday season followed by Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows ($2.9 million), Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol ($2.6 million), Puss in Boots ($2.3 million), and Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked ($2.2 million).
