Dr Phil steps in to help Sinead O'Connor

Sinead O'Connor will reportedly appear on Dr Phil next week to discuss her struggles with mental health issues.

According to Billboard, the singer will appear for the show's return next Tuesday to kick of the 16th season.

O'Connor has been open about her mental health issues in the past, last month posting a 12-minute Facebook video from a New Jersey hotel room in which she talked about dealing with suicidal thoughts.

In the interview, O'Connor tells Dr Phil: "I'm so grateful and very happy, very excited to be getting some proper help."

She also addresses the treatment of mental health on the show, saying: "The fact that there's such stigma about mental illness means that the illness doesn't get talked about."
