On Lonely Miaow's Givealittle page, donations have shot up in the last 24 hours.
One donation suggests singer-songwriter Ryan Adams gave $500 to Lonely Miaow this morning to care for "Wednesday Adams" as some people now called the black-and-white cat.
The musician made the Grafton cemetery cat a social media sensation after tweeting a photo of the feline.
He pleaded with Auckland fans and animal shelters to help find the young puss a "forever home".
Another donor, from North Carolina, gave $75 to the charity.
Donations to the value of at least $1200 were made in the last 24 hours. Some additional donors made donations of unpublished amounts.
