Several children had to be plucked to safety at a red carpet film opening in Melbourne as fans surged to get a glimpse of Daniel Radcliffe, the star of the Harry Potter films.
Hundreds of screaming teenage girls and a small of number of boys waited for
up to seven hours to catch a glimpse of the teen star, in Melbourne promoting December Boys.
Several children were rescued from the crush by security guards, who struggled to contain the mob.
The star appeared shocked by the attention. "Oh my God. Yes, it's a little bit overwhelming," he said.
