Creed frontman Scott Stapp is under investigation by the US Secret Service after he threatened to assassinate US President Barack Obama in a lengthy tirade.
The rocker's estranged wife, Jaclyn Stapp, called Florida police last month begging them to detain the star following his erratic behaviour.
In audio footage obtainedby TMZ, Stapp told the 911 dispatcher her husband had printed out what he believed to be hundreds of pages of CIA documents, adding, "He thinks he's part of the CIA. He thinks they're trying to kill him and he has a bunch of paperwork in his backpack that he's a CIA agent and he must first assassinate Obama... He's schizophrenic, he has a history of this. He's always suffered with the paranoia schizophrenia, then he self medicates and he's been in eight rehabs."
After Scott's tirade hit headlines, members of the President's Secret Service team took the threats seriously, as the organisation's spokeswoman Nicole Mainor tells People magazine, "We are aware and we'll take appropriate action."
Since Stapp went public with Scott's mental health issues, a Florida judge has given her sole legal and physical custody of the couple's three children, and ruled the Creed singer has no right to stay in the family home.
