The cast for the Harry Potter spin-off has added more cast members to its growing list, with Colin Farrell the latest big star to sign on.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, based on the book by J.K. Rowling, follows magizoologist Newt Scamander as he explores 1920s New York and attempts to catalogue magical animals.
Eddie Redmayne is set to lead as Scamander, and is joined by fellow rising stars Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol.
While details about his character are scarce, Farrell has been announced to star as Graves, one of the many wizards Scamander meets in his travels. With Miller rumoured to play Scamander's rival, Farrell could fill either a mentor role to the younger cast members or play a teacher at the 'American Hogwarts' set to feature in the movie.
It has also been revealed that the global casting call for an Emma Watson-esque actress has finished, with 10-year-old Faith Wood-Blagrove cast as Melody, previously described as a 'haunted young girl'.
Fantastic Beasts, Rowling's first screenplay, is set for release November 16 2016, and is likely the first of a new trilogy. David Yates, who directed the last four Potter movies, is set to helm this latest instalment in the franchise.
Farrell is currently starring in the second season of True Detective. His latest film, The Lobster, recently opened the New Zealand International Film Festival.
