Vampire Weekend co-founder Rostam Batmanglij has quit the band.
The musician has taken to Twitter to inform fans he is exiting the band he helped form in 2006, but he assured fans he would continue to work with lead singer/guitarist Ezra Koenig on new music for the group.

"wanted tolet ppl (people) kno (sic) I'm no longer a member of VW but that Ezra and I will continue to collaborate on future projects (and) future VW songs," he wrote on the social media site.
"my identity as a songwriter (and) producer, I realized, needs to stand on its own. still connected to the ppl I work with, but through the songs we make together."
"I can't even begin to express the joy I get from writing songs, both on my own (and) with others, I hold it all sacred," he added. "There is so much amazing music - all of it dear to me - on its way to you. it's an exciting time and I feel luck (sic) to share it with you."
The band has released three albums during its tenure with Batmanglij - the last one, Modern Vampires of the City, was released in 2013. It is unclear if Batmanglij will be replaced.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old has recently released his new solo single, EOS.
Batmanglij later joked on Twitter that he "had to Zayn on" his former bandmates. Referring to Zayn Malik who split from British boy band, One Direction.
