The band has released three albums during its tenure with Batmanglij - the last one, Modern Vampires of the City, was released in 2013. It is unclear if Batmanglij will be replaced.
Meanwhile, the 32-year-old has recently released his new solo single, EOS.
Batmanglij later joked on Twitter that he "had to Zayn on" his former bandmates. Referring to Zayn Malik who split from British boy band, One Direction.
