Cirque du Soleil has announced its brand new show called TORUK - The First Flight, based on the world of James Cameron's Avatar.
TORUK - The First Flight will make its New Zealand debut at Christchurch's Horncastle Arena from September 1-10, before travelling to Auckland's Spark Arena from September 15-24.
The show will take patrons back to the world of Pandora created in Cameron's 2009 film, presenting it in a stunning live setting with a combination of visuals, puppetry and stagecraft.
Taking place thousands of years before the events of the film, TORUK follows two Na'vi on a quest to find mighty flying predator Toruk after a natural disaster threatens the sacred Tree of Souls.
Presented by TEG Live, TORUK was created by directors Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon. The show is described as a "living ode to the Na'vi's symbiotic coexistence with nature and their belief in the basic interconnectedness of all living things."
Tickets are on sale from 10am on Monday May 15 via Ticketek for Christchurch and Ticketmaster for Auckland. A presale begins today for Cirque Club members only.
