Chucky is coming back.
Child's Play is getting a reboot from the producers of It, THR reports.
David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith, two of the names behind the mega successful return of Pennywise the Clown, are hoping to resurrect the classic 1980s horror with a similar impact.
The original followsserial killer Charles Lee Ray, who after being fatally wounded by pursuing police, transfers his soul into a Good Guy doll via a Voodoo spell.
After being gifted to 6-year-old Andy Barclay on his birthday, the murderous doll terrorises the family, trying to transfer his soul into the boy before he gets permanently trapped in the doll.
The film kicked off a franchise that started off relatively serious, before drifting more into comedy horror.

There has been seven installments in the franchise to date — the most recent being last year's Cult Of Chucky — with the doll picking up a wife and even children over the years.
Lord Of The Rings star Brad Dourif voiced Chucky in all seven films; it remains to be seen who will take over the role.
