The series is sponsored by car manufacturer Acura, who source a new vehicle for Seinfeld to drive in every episode.
The reunion episode found Seinfeld behind the wheel of a beat-up AMC Pacer, before introducing his "best friend for almost every day of the 1990s, George Costanza".
The pair discuss the Super Bowl in the inimitable style of the show, before stopping for coffee at frequent Seinfeld location Tom's Restaurant and getting into a heated discussion about over-cheering during the game and murmuring during conversation.
Seinfeld and Alexander are the only regular cast members to appear, but the pair are joined briefly by Newman (Wayne Knight). Naturally, Jerry delivers a "helloooo, Newman" for old time sake.
The reunion episode marks the second time cast members from the hit nineties sitcom have reunited for television; the first came during several episodes of Seinfeld co-creator Larry David's Curb Your Enthusiasm.
It wasn't particularly funny - the jokes felt more like one of the many Seinfeld parodies online, as opposed to capturing the spirit of the original series - but it was a pleasure to see these iconic characters on screen again.
Don't expect any further reunions, however: both Seinfeld and David have resisted cashing in on the Seinfeld brand.
If any further reunions do happen, it will likely be with very little advance notice. Not that there's anything wrong with that.
