The appreciationfrom the rhythm and blues star comes a day three a group of powerful Maori female voices were raised in support on Brown.
At a press conference at a marae in Mangere, Dame Tariana was joined by Dame June Mariu, Dame Iritana Tawhiwhirangi and Lady Tureiti Moxon to offer support to the singer.
The group's support came following a speech from Merepeka Raukawa-Tait, the former chief executive.
On Facebook, Brown sent a longer message: "Sending a Thank You to the Maori woman leaders working in Domestic Violence at the National Urban Maori Authority for their support.
"Much love to Dame Tariana Turia who has been vocal that I have something important to say in giving young folks hope and inspiring them to be the best they can be in life and to treat each other with respect."
