Well, that didn't take long.

A week after he deactivated his account following an expletive-laced back-and-forth with US comic Jenny Johnson, Chris Brown is back on Twitter.

While the singer's 11.7 million followers remain on board, he's yet to (at the time of publishing at least) let rip with a slew of 140-character morsels.

All his previous messages have been deleted, and his bio now reads, "Keep it here for all things Chris Brown, updates from the tour and more... #CarpeDiem." Which might suggest that Breezy has handed over management of his account to his people.

Since he exited left from the Twittersphere, Brown has been actively posting (under a NSFW handle) on his Instagram account.

On Sunday, the 23-year-old singer shared a snapshot of himself and a scantily clad Rihanna next to him, with the caption, "What would music today sound like if these kids didn't exist?"

Rihanna has also been posting photos of Brown on her Instagram page, fuelling speculation that the pair has rekindled their romance.

Late last week, the Unapologetic songbird posted an intimate photo of herself bear-hugging Brown, and appearing to plant a kiss on his head.

"I don't wanna leave!!! Killed it tonight baby!!!" she wrote, referring to Brown's concert in Frankfurt, Germany, on Thursday.

Brown was dragged into a bitter row with comedy writer Johnson last week, which resulted in the singer pulling the plug on his Twitter account.

Rihanna confirms break-up

It all kicked off after Brown tweeted "I look old as f***! I'm only 23..." to which Johnson replied, "I know! Being a worthless piece of s**t can really age a person."

Brown then replied, branding her a "pathetic b***h" and a "HOE".

The downward spiral continued when Johnson then corrected the singer's spelling - "It's 'HO' not 'HOE' you ignorant f***" - and linked through to a news story that featured graphic details of his 2009 attack on Rihanna.

Brown's last few tweets before deactivating his account were, "To teambreezy... Know that I'm not upset. Just felt like entertaining the ignorance. These b*****s crazy..Further proved my point of how immature society is. #CarpeDiem...Catch me in traffic..."

According to Gossip Cop, a source close to the singer says Brown "got caught up in the moment" during the vile exchange, saying he knew "it was a mistake to respond."

"He made an error in judgement," says their source.

'I TRY TO PROMOTE POSITIVITY'

Just days after yanking his account, an interview (conducted before his Twitter exit) emerged where Brown claimed he'd changed his social media strategy.

"In the beginning, I used to be hot. I'm normal. I'm human, so if anybody says something that's a lie, I'm numb to it. I've smartened up," Brown told XXL magazine.

"I haven't been as mature and thought out in the past, so, me growing now, it's showing my progression," he added.

"I used to use my Twitter account to vent, but now I mostly use it for marketing and promotions. Even if the media asks me something, if it's cool then it's, 'What's up?' But if it's anything that's too negative, I don't care to respond."

He elaborated: "I use music or painting as my outlet to get through the confusion. I try to promote positivity and love.

"One thing people often want me to talk about is my public love life. When it comes to my love life, the perception seems as though I am a player," he added. "But that's not true. Love is something I am still learning. It's just an obstacle that I haven't yet mastered. I think that's my biggest hurdle in life."

'THIS IS NOT AN APOLOGY'

Meanwhile, Johnson has opened up about the now-infamous spat.

"This is not an apology. I just want to clear some things up," she wrote in a personal essay via GQ magazine.

"My first thought following my Twitter exchange with Chris Brown on Sunday was to ignore it until it went away. The exchange I'm referencing would be the one where he tweeted he looked old for 23, and I replied with a not-so-kind comment. From there we discussed farts, spelling, past events, bushpigs, and the part of my eye which he wanted to go number two on. It ended up with him deactivating his Twitter account."

Johnson goes on to say that she assumed the whole thing "would pass" in a couple of days, but "it's still kind of there."

"I won't say I regret what I did, but I will say I have learned from it. I chose to turn a lazy Sunday watching football with my husband into a total sh*tstorm," wrote Johnson.

"I've had people assume I dislike Chris Brown because I'm taking up for Rihanna, I'm not. I'm on the side of good, of equality and respect for my fellow woman," said Johnson, adding, "I was raised to not respect a person who doesn't respect others. And one human being physically harming another human being is one of the most disrespectful acts there is."

Johnson wrote, "That said, my Twitter account is meant to be funny. While there are truths behind a lot of the things I write, in no way, shape or form are they meant to be seen as anything other than the words of a comedy writer, in 140 characters or less."

She admits that her spat with Brown was "certainly not my finest hour, but here we are."

Johnson wrote in closing, "Don't worry Team Breezy, your hero is still on Instagram under the handle F***YoPictures. #Classy."
