Before they were famous, some very well known actors lived in share houses to try and save a few dollars as they attempted to make it big in Hollywood.

Not only did they go on to become huge stars themselves, but so too did their roommates.

Here are some celebs you never knew were once roommates:

The young actors lived together in the 1980s when Brad Pitt was secretly dating Geena Davis.

"Just for fun, we used to have competitions over who could go the longest without showering and shaving," Priestley wrote in his book, Jason Priestley: A Memoir.

"Brad always won. Having to go on an audition meant cleaning up, which is what usually put an end to the streak."

Brad Pitt is now one of the wealthiest movie stars in the world, but life was different back then.

"We lived on ramen noodles and generic beer - the kind that came in white cans labelled BEER - and Marlboro Light cigarettes ... We were all broke," Priestley wrote.

The two funny men shared an apartment in the San Fernando Valley when they were trying to make it big in Hollywood.

"Back then, life was just doing stand-up or writing jokes," Apatow said to The Hollywood Reporter.

"You would sleep until noon every day and kind of stumble out. You would have to be at work at 8:30 at night. Work was sometimes 15 minutes."

Like all housemates, the two men fought every now and then, especially when Apatow would use Sandler's bathroom.

They also had heated debates about who was better looking.

Sandler moved out when he landed a role on Saturday Night Live in New York but he kept paying his half of the rent because he was convinced he was going to get sacked.

"He just left, like he was going to come back, but he just didn't come back," Apatow said.

The up and coming stars lived together in Los Angeles for more than a year in the mid-2000s.

But as Justin Long revealed, the two decided to move out separately after fighting over recycling.

"We're still great friends but it got to be like an old married couple," Long said.

"We fought over recycling. He would recycle everything. I would find banana peels and shards of glass in the recycling bin.

"We started getting in little fights like that, he left the bathroom door open, didn't clean up after himself. Little things like that. It was time for a separation."

At the time, Robert Downey Jr. was dating Sarah Jessica Parker and the two were going through a rough patch.

"He (Sutherland) was probably staying with us for a while, and then I was having some trouble with Sarah Jessica, and he was looking after her," Downey Jr. said to Howard Stern, "It was all rather incestuous back then".

Stern asked the Iron Man star if Sutherland was being a mate or if he was trying to steal his girlfriend.

"It's more that thing, like you're all close friends, and he was probably consoling her a bit," Downey Jr. said.

"He didn't steal my girl, he remained in the relationship he was in. He was a shoulder [to cry on]. Better him than some stranger."

The two stars first met each other during a photo shoot and they hit it off, so much so that they decided to move in together for 14 months.

But as Raven Symone revealed to Us Weekly, Lohan wasn't much of a housemate.

"She paid rent, and she was there probably three times," Symone said.

Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve remained great mates after Juilliard.

In the early 1970s Williams and Reeve were roommates as they studied at Juilliard School in New York.

"The first person I met at Juilliard was the other advanced student, a short, stocky, long-haired fellow from Marin County, California, who wore tie-dyed shirts with track suit bottoms and talked a mile a minute," Reeve in his 1998 autobiography, Still Me.

"I'd never seen so much energy contained in one person. He was like an untied balloon that had been inflated and immediately released. I watched in awe as he virtually caromed off the walls of the classrooms and hallways.

"To say that he was 'on' would be a major understatement. There was never a moment when he wasn't doing voices, imitating teachers, and making our faces ache from laughing at his antics. His name, of course, was Robin Williams."

In a Reddit AMA, Williams was asked what his best memory was of the Superman star.

"Him being such a great friend to me at Juilliard, literally feeding me because I don't think I literally had money for food or my student loan hadn't come in yet, and he would share his food with me," Williams wrote.

The two handsome lads met in 1993 when they both joined the Mickey Mouse Club and they later ended up living together.

"His mother had to keep her job in Canada the second year that we were on the television show," Timberlake told Ellen DeGeneres.

"My mum was his guardian for six months so we actually lived together when we were that age. We were probably a little closer than the rest of the kids that were on the show just because we had to share a bathroom."
