The hunt is on for Kiwis to take on our rivals across the ditch in the ultimate team challenge television series.
TVNZ and Channel 7 Australia have joined forces to bring brand new series Spartan to New Zealand.
Inspired by the global fitness phenomenon, Spartan Race, the impossible-to-complete-alone obstacle course has been designed to challenge competitor's determination, endurance and will.
While the series will be filmed in Australia, producers are looking for super fit and competitive New Zealand teams of three to pit against Australia for a bit of trans-Tasman rivalry.
TVNZ's director of content Cate Slater said Spartan was set to be the toughest and biggest obstacle course ever seen on Australian or New Zealand television.
"Allowing Kiwi contestants a chance to take on the Aussies should have viewers in both countries glued to their screens and cheering on their favourites."
Teams of friends, family and workmates will have to work together and push each other to their physical and mental limits.
Over the course of the show, the extreme and specially-designed course will get harder to truly test the most outstanding athletes. In the end, only one team will triumph and rise to become the ultimate Australian Spartans.
