Caitlyn Jenner's memoir will leave no question unanswered

Caitlyn Jenner is releasing a memoir about her transition from male to female.

The US reality star is reuniting with journalist Buzz Bissinger, the writer who penned the Vanity Fair article that introduced the transgender former Olympian as Caitlyn in June.

"Things have been moving so quickly that it will be nice to slow things down a bit and take the proper time to reflect on this journey," a statement from Jenner to the New York Times reads.

"I couldn't pick a better team, in Grand Central (Publishing) and Buzz, to make sure this story is told with a lot of honesty and care.

"I made it clear to her before I agreed that everything has to be on the table, nothing can be left out, and I'm going to be interviewing dozens of other people," Bissinger, whose bestselling sports books include Friday Night Lights and The Classic Mantle, said.

"It's her book, but it's going to be reported out to keep her honest. She's been incredibly open, and I think it has the potential to be a really important book."

The untitled book will centre on Caitlyn's childhood as Bruce Jenner, his days as an Olympic champion in the 1970s, his three marriages and her transition. It will be released in 2017.
