Director Bryan Singer is set to tackle his fourth X-Men film.
Twentieth Century Fox has finalised a deal with Singer to direct the upcoming X-Men: Apocalypse, according to Deadline.
Singer has a long history with the mutant franchise starring Australian Hugh Jackman - he directed the first and second X-Menfilms and returned to helm recent X-Men: Days of Future Past.
The latter became the most successful of the series when it released earlier this year, raking in US$745 million (NZ$918.62 million) worldwide.
X-Men: Apocalypse will be set a decade after the last instalment, when the heroic team of mutants find themselves facing a new enemy.
So far, the returning cast will include James McAvoy, who has confirmed he will be going bald to play Charles Xavier, as well as Jackman (Wolverine), Michael Fassbender (Magneto), Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), Nicholas Hoult (Beast) and Evan Peters (Quicksilver).
X-Men: Apocalypse is set to release in cinemas in 2016.
