Britney Spears has entered a rehab facility for substance abuse after a driving under the influence arrest in March, according to reports.
Spears, 44, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs and alcohol in California on March 4 and was released the next day, PageSix reported.
The move to get help for substance abuse was her own choice, an unnamed source told the outlet.
“This isn’t about one substance in particular. It has a dual purpose... This is about Britney putting her mental health first and taking some time for herself to focus on the things that are important to her.”
Multiple sources said the arrest was a turning point.
“Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life. Hopefully, she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” the representative said.
“Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for wellbeing.”
Although Spears hasn’t commented on her arrest in March, she has continued to post on Instagram.
Two weeks after her arrest, she posted a video with her son, Jayden Federline, captioning it: “Thank you guys for all your support… spending time with family and friends is such a blessing. Stay kind!!!”
More recently, she has posted dancing videos and a picture of herself at home.
