The official website of Irish boy-band Boyzone has confirmed the death of one of its members, 33-year-old Stephen Gately.
A statement posted on the website says the singer died yesterday while on holiday with his partner in Majorca.
Reports say Gately had been out for a few drinks before returningto his accommodation in Palma. He fell asleep and could not be woken.
The remaining members of the band, including pop heavyweight Ronan Keating, will travel to Palma tomorrow. The band's manager, Louis Walsh, is reported to be shocked and devastated by Gately's death.
