It was confirmed earlier this week that Benedict Cumberbatch is expecting a second child with his wife Sophie Hunter.
And following his big revelation, the Sherlock star candidly confessed he had a lot to learn when it comes to being a dad.
The 40-year-old actor was interviewed by Alison Hammond on Wednesday morning's installment of This Morning, discussing all things parenthood, Strictly Come Dancing and his new film Doctor Strange.
"Is being a dad your proudest achievement?", Alison probed.
He replied: "It's probably Sophie's. I'm expecting a second child now... I'm still proving myself as a father."
The star may still be working on his parenting style, but he's relishing a new addition to his family.
In an interview with PEOPLE, he said: "It's a joyous thing. I'm very happy to have them in my life, very lucky as well."
Benedict has plenty of admiration for his own parents, Timothy Carlton and Wanda Ventham, and said if he could be "half as good as they were to me" he'd be doing something right.
Discussing his parents, he said: "They are the first heroes I ever had in my life and I don't mean that in a sappy way, it's the truth.
"They, despite whatever is ever made out about it, worked incredibly hard to be able to afford an education that in most circumstances you could only dream of and I was very aware of that."
Meanwhile, back on This Morning, the star discussed new Marvel film franchise, Doctor Strange and his action-packed role as the titular hero, a departure from his usual repertoire.
He said: "It was an acting challenge on every level; action, comedy, everything you want in a film."
During his interview, Benedict was full of praise for best friend Judge Rinder, who is competing on the current series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Cumberbatch has been been friends with the TV personality, real name Robert Rinder, since they studied together at Manchester University, and the criminal barrister was even best man at Benedict and Sophie's wedding.

"He's so fantastic on Strictly. He's a friend. I've seen him as Judge Rinder, but I know him as Rob", Benedict said.
Asked whether he fancied trying his luck on the dancefloor, the A-list actor laughed, retorting, "I've not got dancing feet".
"I can teach you some moves", former Strictly contestant Alison joked, to which he said, "Maybe when there's no cameras!"
During the Doctor Strange premiere in LA earlier this week, the couple let slip to E! that they were expecting.
They welcomed their son Christopher in June 2015, just a few months after their Valentine's Day wedding.
Benedict has previously said he hoped to add to his brood, joking he might "go for a (Cumber)batch of boys."
